I love taking a sneak peek at what's inside another Busy Mum's bag.
There's just something about that look behind the scenes of another Mum's life that I find really interesting! It's like having a glimpse into how they do things in every day life - and it gives me ideas for my own handbag - it usually makes me feel either inspired to add a new handy item, or clear mine out a bit ;)
My gorgeous friend Denise Duffield-Thomas from LuckyBitch.com is letting us take a look inside her bag today! If you haven't met Denise before, here she is with her lovely hubby Mark and her beautiful baby girl Willow..
Ok handing over to Denise now to show us what's in her bag!
The bag: I usually use my favourite blue “Young the Label” bag but I recently re-found this Lucky brand messenger bag in the bag of my wardrobe. Being able to sling it over my shoulders keeps my hands free - and I love the little embroidered shamrock.
Notice how there isn’t a lot of baby stuff in here? I don’t use my handbag as a nappy/diaper bag. Instead I have a canvas shopping tote full of Willow’s stuff. That way, whoever is taking Willow out (me, her Daddy or her Nanny), they can just grab the canvas bag and go.
Kindle Paperwhite: I was such a “real” book snob for years but the last straw was when we went travelling for six months. I packed ten paperback books with me and read them in the first week. Each new place was like a scavenger hunt for books. Some hotels had a stocked library - one place in Zanzibar had only Swedish-language books or James Patterson novels.
The last three books I read were Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, The Power of No by James & Azula Altucher and Women, Food & God by Geneen Roth.
Notebook (Typo): I’m obsessed with notebooks, and love ones like this that have a flap in the back. I recently found all sorts of good stuff in there from the last conference I attended.
Single blue baby sock: I went to a baby shower on the weekend and just as I put down the gift bag, I realised that one of Willow’s socks made it in there. My friend thought it was some sort of new mama rite of passage “The Passing of the Baby Sock”
Sophie the Giraffe: I think I actually chew on this more than Willow does. She usually ignores it and chews on my bag’s straps instead.
Tissues, panty liner, Burts Bees lip balm: All the normal stuff really!
Car key: I love the keyless entry system. As long as the key is in my bag, I can open the car without having to get them out.
iPhone 5S: in a blue cover, naturally!
Calculator: Even though I use the calc on my phone a lot, I love being able to punch in numbers really quickly. This lives on my desk normally.
Hair clip: I get my hair done at the hairdressers most weeks. It saves me SO much time, plus it means that I’m regularly “camera ready”, so I can make videos for my weekly blogs (I don’t have time to write long articles anymore). I keep this clip handy if I need to put my hair up in the wind or to keep Willow from chewing on it!
Ray Ban Liteforce sunnies: I used to always buy cheap sunglasses because I lost them or sat on them. These have been going strong for ages, except the grey ones have scratch marks from Wilsy’s teeth.
Earrings: I love them (a present from my Mother in Law), but I constantly have to take them off otherwise Wilsy pulls them out! Ouch!
Wallet (Status Anxiety): Last year my husband bought be a Vivienne Westwood wallet and it just wasn’t me. I’d be eyeing off the Status Anxiety ones for ages, but I didn’t like the branded ones. I found this one without their logo on it and in my fave colour - it’s perfect!
Wallets are so important - you have to look at them every day - so you have to love it. I always get my Money Bootcampers to upgrade and clean out their wallets regularly.
